Job Responsibilities 1 Assists in performing a wide range of cardiothoracic surgical procedures, including coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), heart valve surgeries (mitral, aortic), thoracic surgeries (lobectomies, pneumonectomies), and minimally invasive surgery techniques. Supports senior surgeons in complex surgeries and perform specific surgical tasks under supervision, ensuring a high standard of care and patient safety. Participates in endoscopic, robotic, and minimally invasive cardiothoracic surgeries, including video-assisted thoracic surgery (VATS) and other advanced techniques. Assists in performing off-pump and on-pump surgeries, including managing patients during cardiopulmonary bypass when required. Conducts preoperative evaluations, including patient histories, diagnostic assessments (e.g., ECG, echocardiogram, angiography), and risk stratification for surgical candidates. Develops personalized surgical plans in collaboration with senior surgeons, ensuring tailored treatment strategies for each patient. Job Responsibilities 2 Manages postoperative care, including patient monitoring in the intensive care unit (ICU), providing clinical follow-ups, and addressing any complications or concerns. Educates patients on their surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and postoperative care. Works closely with multidisciplinary teams, including cardiologists, pulmonologists, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff, to ensure optimal patient outcomes throughout all stages of surgery. Participates in clinical rounds, discuss patient cases with the team, and contribute insights and recommendations. Collaborates in the development and implementation of care protocols to ensure evidence-based, consistent patient care practices. Participates in ongoing clinical research projects to further the understanding and treatment of cardiothoracic diseases, contributing to the publication of results in medical journals. Additional Responsibilities 3 Job Knowledge & Skills Familiarity and competence with key cardiothoracic procedures, including the use of surgical tools, techniques, and technologies such as robotic systems and minimally invasive surgery. Ability to assess patient health using diagnostic tests such as echocardiograms, CT scans, angiograms, and pulmonary function tests. Ability to make evidence-based decisions in high-pressure, critical care environments, particularly in perioperative and postoperative settings. Strong team player with excellent communication skills, able to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams. Focus on providing compassionate, individualized care, educating patients and their families, and making informed decisions based on patients’ health status and needs. This individual is responsible for helping to develop and implement systems to assure the smooth and efficient flow of patients for procedures in the Cardiovascular Lab. Duties for this position include but are not limited to: hemodynamic monitoring, circulating and scrubbing roles during invasive cardiovascular and basic EP procedures and other scheduled procedures. This position also includes patient teaching, assisting with pre and post patient assessment and patient care within scope of practice. This individual is able to demonstrate technical expertise in working with electrophysiology and cardiovascular patients during invasive diagnostic and interventional angiographic procedures. The scope of responsibility, duties and accountability at the facility department and position levels including knowledge and practice of the clinical/technical skills necessary to the position consistent with the Qatar Council for Healthcare Practitioners (QCHP) Cardiovascular Technologist Scope of Practice. Job Responsibilities 1 Provides hemodynamic monitoring of patients during basic EP and cardiovascular procedures and other scheduled procedures, assists with pre and post patient assessment and patient care within scope of practice, patient teaching, circulating during invasive cardiovascular and EP procedures. Demonstrates technical expertise in working with electrophysiology and cardiovascular patients during invasive diagnostic and interventional angiographic procedures. Provides patient care under limited supervision within a broad range of health care needs in cardiac special procedures such as basic electrophysiology diagnostic and interventional procedures, implantable cardiac devices and, cardiac peripheral vascular and nephrology diagnostic interventional procedures. Collects and documents chronological events of the procedure and medical care during the procedure. Assists the physician in the performance of pediatric and adult invasive diagnostic and interventional procedures. Develops and integrates standards of care for patients presenting to the lab. Job Responsibilities 2 Delivers competent and age specific care to patients based on departmental policies, procedures, and standards across a variety of populations and complexity of situations. Demonstrates knowledge of cardiovascular medications, vasopressors and anti-arrhythmic agents including dosing, side effects, and drug interactions per ACLS guidelines. Able to identify adverse events or unanticipated outcomes using critical thinking skills and notifies the medical staff including nurses and physicians appropriately. Demonstrates technical skills, trouble shooting skills, and expert knowledge of catheters and equipment used during EP and cardiovascular procedures. Demonstrates a basic understanding of radiological safety, shielding techniques, imaging skills and X-ray equipment, analyzing and recording equipment and other equipment utilized. Implements safe, competent, and efficient procedure care to cardiovascular patients within policies, procedures, and standards of care across a variety of populations and complexity of situations within the scope of practice. This position involves assisting the surgical team in maintaining optimal patient circulation and physiological function during surgery. The Clinical Perfusionist I ensures that all equipment is properly calibrated and functioning and provides accurate documentation of perfusion parameters and patient data. Job Responsibilities 1 Operates heart-lung machines and other related devices during surgeries, ensuring proper regulation of patient blood flow, oxygenation, temperature, and other critical physiological functions. Monitors the patient’s hemodynamic status throughout the procedure, adjusting perfusion equipment as necessary to maintain optimal function. Prepares and calibrates extracorporeal circulation equipment, such as blood pumps, oxygenators, and temperature management devices, prior to surgery. Ensures all equipment is in proper working order before, during, and after surgeries. Identifies and troubleshoots any issues related to perfusion equipment during surgery.
