This intermediate-level position involves preparing anesthesia equipment, assisting with patient monitoring, maintaining inventory, and providing technical support during anesthesia procedures.The Anesthesia Technologist II works under the direction of licensed anesthesia providers and collaborates with anesthesia team members to optimize patient outcomes and ensure patient safety. Job Responsibilities 1 Consults Operating Room schedule to determine supply and equipment needs for procedures. Sets up, tests, calibrates, and operates complex physiologic monitors such as anesthesia workstations, intubation/airway devices, fiber optic endoscopes, physiologic monitors, and infusion devices. Troubleshoots anesthesia equipment malfunctions, routing non-functional equipment to the proper department for repair. Supports anesthesia providers using aseptic or sterile technique with non-invasive and invasive patient procedures including peripheral and/or central intravenous and/or arterial line placement; airway management techniques including mask, endotracheal and/or emergency methods and regional anesthesia techniques. Inserts peripheral intravenous catheters after validating competency. Leads in the preparation of the patient for surgery and performs pre-operative assessments as requested by the anesthesiologist. Ensures anesthesia providers have physiologic monitoring of patients notifying the anesthesia provider(s) of abnormal changes in vital signs and/or physical appearance of the patient. Supports intra-hospital patient transport, insuring integrity of all monitoring and/or circulatory support devices. Participates in the operating room infection control programs by performing duties such as maintaining cleanliness in anesthetic equipment in accordance with quality assurance programs. Ensure strict adherence to established procedures to minimize operating room pollution. Job Responsibilities 2 Maintains appropriate supplies and equipment in supply carts, report needs/usage to supervisor as required. Obtains supplies and equipment as requested by anesthesia providers. Assists with patient laboratory tests and results including, but not limited to, ABGs, ACTs and other point of care tests. Obtains blood products and pharmaceuticals assisting with preparation and delivery. Maintains immediate availability to assist in routine and emergency procedures. Participates in patient education programs. Develops and sustains (maintains) own knowledge, clinical skills (mandatory training) and professional (portfolio or profile) awareness and maintains a professional profile. Provides documented evidence of performance and maintenance of skills consistent with position. Additional Responsibilities 3 Job Knowledge & Skills Proficiency in setting up and troubleshooting anesthesia equipment and monitoring devices, including anesthesia machines, ventilators, and patient monitors. Strong knowledge of anesthesia principles, pharmacology, and equipment operation, with the ability to apply sound clinical judgment in emergency situations.
