Job Purpose:The News Writer is responsible for researching, writing, and publishing accurate and engaging business and economic news and original stories across various topics, while collaborating with the editorial team to support social media content, magazine features, and other editorial activities as needed.
Key Responsibilities:• Researching and writing news articles across business, economic, and breaking news topics toensure timely and engaging coverage for readers in the magazine also in FME website.• Reviewing and editing content before publication to ensure grammatical accuracy, clarity, andconsistency with editorial standards.• Verifying grammar, wording, and content accuracy in collaboration with the proofreading team tomaintain credibility and minimize the risk of misinformation.• Supporting live coverage of major events, conferences, and breaking news situations to ensurereal-time reporting.• Supporting all FME events and ensuring effective collaboration with the events social mediateams to guarantee timely coverage across all FME’s social media platforms.• Monitoring markets, verified social media news platforms, and current events to identifybreaking news opportunities and secure exclusive stories.• Pitching story ideas and collaborating with reporters, and fact-checkers to enhance contentquality and editorial alignment.• Ensuring all published content complies with editorial standards, accuracy requirements, andcompany guidelines to maintain content credibility.• Writing engaging headlines and social media posts to increase audience reach, readershipengagement, and content visibility in collaboration with social media team.• Managing publishing timelines and working within tight deadlines to ensure fast and accuratenews delivery.• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with sources, experts, and stakeholders tosupport reliable and exclusive reporting.• Coordinating with designers and multimedia teams to enhance news and articles with visuals,infographics, and multimedia content for improved audience engagement.• Optimizing articles using SEO best practices to improve search visibility and digital trafficperformance.• Tracking article performance and audience engagement metrics to support contentimprovement and editorial planning.• Building and maintaining databases of contacts, sources, and industry insights to support futurereporting activities.• Contributing innovative content ideas and storytelling approaches to strengthen audienceengagement and brand positioning.• Coordinating with internal departments and external contributors to gather accurate informationand meet publishing requirements.• Ensuring compliance with legal, ethical, and copyright standards for Forbes US in all publishedcontent.
Job Specifications:• Bachelor’s degree in journalism, economy, finance, or related field. Experience:• 1-3 years of experience as English Journalist, English writer.• Publishing experience (business journalism preferred).• Experience in both print and digital media writing.• Proven experience in economic reporting with strong knowledge of Middle East affairs.• Experience in business journalism.• Experience working in a fast-paced newsroom or digital publishing environment is anadvantage.• Strong English news writing, editing, and storytelling skills with proven portfolio.• Research and analysis of financial data.• Proficiency in MS Office (word, Excel, Power point)• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory, with Arabicconsidered an added advantage.• Knowledge of business, economics, and current affairs (regional & global).• Familiarity with digital publishing platforms and SEO principles.• Ability to work under tight deadlines and manage multiple assignments.• Ability to generate original stories, engaging, and timely story ideas is an advantage.
