Job Overview Our client is seeking a highly adaptable Financial Accountant who can quickly master new processes, systems, and responsibilities in a fast-paced environment. This position is a critical role within the Finance Department, bridging the gap between junior execution and senior oversight. This role requires a professional who combines high technical accuracy with autonomous problem-solving capabilities. The successful candidate will ensure the absolute integrity of financial data through meticulous reconciliation and proactive record management, minimizing the need for supervisory intervention in daily operations.
Schedule Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Toronto, CAN Time, with 1 hour unpaid break (40 hours per week)
Responsibilities Bank & Cash Reconciliation: Own the end-to-end bank reconciliation process, ensuring all corporate accounts are balanced, verified, and completely up-to-date. Advanced Discrepancy Investigation: Proactively identify, investigate, and resolve accounting discrepancies independently to ensure supervisors are not required for routine troubleshooting. Month-End Closing Support: Provide active, technical support during the month-end close process, including journal entry preparation, balance sheet adjustments, and preliminary financial statement reviews. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work effectively across multiple internal departments to gather financial information, clarify transactional data, and resolve ledger variations. Systems Adaptability: Embrace operational shifts and quickly learn new accounting systems, platforms, and financial workflows with high learning agility.
Requirements Accounting Footprint: 3–5 years of progressive professional accounting experience. Reconciliation Mastery: A proven track record of handling highly complex multi-account reconciliations with minimal senior supervision. Advanced Excel Skills: High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUPs, XLOOKUPs, and Pivot Tables. Linguistic Standard: Strong, proactive verbal and written English communication skills. Autonomy: Highly developed problem-solving capabilities with the ability to maintain accuracy under tight month-end deadlines.
Qualifications Education: A formal Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance is strictly required. System Familiarity: Prior professional experience utilizing the Great Plains (GP) Accounting System is highly preferred but not required.
