Salvo Grima Group is a dynamic group of companies specialising in ship supply, travel retail, wholesale and product distribution in Europe and worldwide. Our group was first established in 1860 and employs over 300 people with operations in eight countries.
We are looking for a commercially driven Trade Marketing Manager (Tobacco), based in Benghazi who will play a key leadership role in implementing the company’s marketing and sales strategies in the region. Working closely with the Country Market Manager, local sales teams, and our importer, this position ensures the effective execution of trade marketing initiatives, market development, and distribution objectives to strengthen our company’s marketing capabilities in Benghazi.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Market & Sales Management
- Build and maintain a strong relationship with the Benghazi Sales Team and local trade partners.
- Achieve the Benghazi Sales Plan and ensure monthly and quarterly WS targets are met or exceeded.
- Collaborate closely with our importer in Benghazi to enhance market presence and drive sustainable sales growth.
- Work closely with the Sales Team to maximize distribution opportunities and minimize out-of-stock situations by proactively identifying and communicating market gaps and opportunities.
Trade Marketing Leadership
- Support the country manager in providing guidance and direction to the local Trade Marketing Representatives (TMRs) on a day-to-day basis.
- Lead the execution of marketing campaigns, visibility drives, and promotional activities within the assigned area.
- Ensure key driver brands achieve 90% weighted distribution across the area and 100% distribution in high-consumption districts.
- Follow up on promotional initiatives, ensuring proper implementation, evaluation, and reporting of results.
Market Development & Insights
- Acquire comprehensive market insights to understand dynamics, consumer behavior, and competition across all tobacco segments in Benghazi.
- Sustain market research initiatives and deliver concise reports with actionable recommendations to support market development strategies.
- Conduct daily market surveillance through the field team and analyze data to identify opportunities or threats.
- Monitor competitor activities and prepare weekly and monthly market intelligence reports.
- Maintain an updated database on product availability, pricing, and trade performance.
Reporting & Coordination
- Submit monthly activity reports to the Country Manager summarizing achievements, challenges, and proposed next steps.
- Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders (sales, logistics, marketing, and finance) to ensure seamless execution of trade programs.
- Represent Salvo Grima Group professionally, maintaining a positive and proactive attitude at all times.
- Perform other duties reasonably required within the scope of this position.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Solid understanding of trade marketing and sales operations.
- Strong analytical ability to interpret market data and transform it into actionable insights.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with data reporting tools.
- Strong relationship-building and negotiation abilities.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
- Proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with problem-solving capabilities.
- Basic English proficiency preferred.
- Available to work full-time (Sunday to Thursday, 8 hours/day).
- Willing to be based in Benghazi and able to travel within Libya as required.
- Must have own transportation.
